Ready to try your Chinese keyboard?
Start with a short HSK 1 typing session. No signup is required.
Practice HSK 1 vocabularyKnowing Pinyin is not the same as typing Chinese fluently. Fast Pinyin typing comes from entering complete words, choosing candidates without breaking rhythm, and correcting fewer mistakes.
This plan takes 10-15 minutes a day. Use your normal system Pinyin keyboard and start with HSK 1 vocabulary practice.
Complete one unfamiliar practice. Record CPM, accuracy, and the words that caused long pauses. Do not repeat the test until day 7.

Practice common two- and three-character words. Enter xuesheng before selecting 学生 instead of selecting 学 and 生 separately. Longer input gives the IME more context and usually reduces candidate work.
Slow down and identify why you pause. Is the problem Pinyin spelling, a tone-related pronunciation uncertainty, or candidate selection? Repeat only the five words that caused the longest pauses.
Practice without reaching for the mouse. Use number keys, space, page keys, or the shortcuts provided by your input method. Accuracy is the goal; do not accept the first candidate without checking it.
Move from vocabulary to short sentences. Read a phrase ahead, enter a meaningful chunk, select it, and continue. Avoid alternating between one key and one glance at the source text.
Repeat one short practice twice. On the second attempt, notice whether fewer pauses—not just memorization—made it smoother. Keep a list of only five recurring problem words.
Use a short newspaper practice. Names and formal vocabulary will create more candidate ambiguity. Keep moving, then revisit the three hardest words after the session.
Repeat the same category and conditions from your baseline, using a new passage. Compare:

One week will not create expert speed. It should reveal your main constraint and establish a repeatable routine.
Repeat the structure with harder content. If spelling is the problem, stay with familiar vocabulary. If candidate selection is the problem, type longer phrases. If rhythm is the problem, alternate unfamiliar passages with one repeated passage.
